The past few weeks I have been celebrating life, by rekindling a life long romance with dance.
It’s been over five years since I stretched and plied in a dance studio and the reality of shaking my thang with a bunch of (mostly) teenagers was mortifying.
But, the reality of being a wishful observer for another year weighed heavier.
It was time to stop sitting on the sidelines. Time to do something about it
Click play to learn what brought me to this point and how to know whether it’s time for you to start celebrating your life on a new level.
My hunch is that YOU have a few secret passions of your own. Something that beckons to be dusted off and shown the light once more.
A whisper of a ‘what about’ or “I wonder if.”
I really want to hear from YOU.
Tell me one way you want to celebrate your life this year and share how you are going to take some action this week.
Keep showing the world more of yourself.

Loving the vlog!!! I can’t think of what my secret passion is off the top of my head. I will have to think abut it and get back to you. Love seeing your face and your voice.

Thanks Sonia. It’s definitely a different way of connecting with readers and one that I’m not totally comfortable with. I appreciate your words of encouragement.
You seem to be pretty in tune with living at least some of your passions – If you have more to give…I can’t wait to hear about it!
Great vlog Kirri! I love how you are getting back to those childhood passions and letting them have a life. It’s never too late. My Dad always dreamed of playing cricket for Australia and now he does at the young age of 70!!
I used to love doing hip hop classes at the gym in the States. My secret passion was to be a rock star, but I can’t see me attending classes to try that one out!! Maybe I should take up the guitar again though.
Caz Makepeace recently posted…Mojo Magic Tip: Stand up for your worth
Go your dad Caz!! I adore hearing stories like that.
Shows that we’re never too old to get out there and kick ass. (My mum proved that recently when we were competing over who could pump the most weights and she flattened me. Now I have to work harder at the gym, as well as up my dance moves!).
So awesome Kirri. Absolutely love it. thank you so much for sharing. I have so many secret passions that I don’t know where to start – singing, flying – always wanted to be a pilot or a brain surgeon but I let opinions of others stop me.
So for me my next big step is really starting to put myself out there as a healer – which I’m looking to get some more mentoring around and well all the other stuff that I’m doing over the next few weeks.
Loads of love to your gorgeous. Its so nice to see your beautiful glowing face and hear your soothing voice oxox

You are so kind Megan. You bring such a loving, vibrant energy with you into any space (so evident online) – I have no doubt you are going to achieve all sorts of wonderful things this year x
so love hearing about you getting back to dance – it proves it is never too late to return to a dream or passion. for me it is all about returning to art and crafts – i was great at it as a kid – won awards, selected to create a mural for my primary school etc. Somewhere in high school i was made to feel i should move form the practical /artist to the academic side with art history etc and slowly stopped creating. i am loving finally giving myself permission to reconnect with all aspects of art! action for me is to talk to hubby about getting myself a camera even though i feel unworthy of a big purchase!
Deb @ Home life simplified recently posted…Letters to my daughters: honoring your needs
Perhaps that explains why your daughter is so artistic as well?
I can totally relate to that feeling and perceived pressure to be ‘practical’ and more academic at school….but look at us now hey? Rediscovering old treasures all over again x
I think it’s so awesome that you are embracing your dancer-self again! And hip-hop! Fun x 100!
Something that I haven’t really shared is that I was a pretty good basket-baller a million years ago, and last year I had the opportunity to play with my sister (who is 6 years younger than me and still a great basket-baller) in a representative team as they needed a fill in. After not touching a ball or having anyone push me around for 15 years, it was pretty scary! I trained a few times and played a couple of games. At 41! The team went on to win the Big V grand final and though I didn’t play in the finals, I still felt like I had been part of it in some small way. My “word” last year was participate. After many, many years of spectating it really paid off.
Great vlog Kirri! Love your work! xx
Lee recently posted…Who is this running woman?
And it feels so big and scary and exciting all rolled into one? Yeah – I so get that Lee.
I know I can’t dance the way I did when I was 15 or 20, but I can FEEL the same love and aliveness inside and that’s what it’s about – participating.
It’s brilliant to share that energy with you, ‘baller’
Well I loved the video, because they can sometimes make a person and their thoughts more real to you, which you do very well. As for dancing, I love it. I mean LOVE it. I’m not saying the enthusiasm is reciprocated, but I almost feel that a day in which you don’t dance is wasted. As for going the uncomfortable mile. It’s writing for me. How do you make a writer a good self marketer. I’ve no idea

I’m so backing you Peter. I love your work x
Thank you very much, You sounded a bit strict here, but everything you say makes sense as always. I’ve never heard of the interwebz. !!

Awesome Kirri! I bet you are having a blast working out the kinks of getting back to your former dancer self! Big huge double fist pump to you! I sometimes think about when I was swayed from trying something because I felt like it was too late to learn, like when I was 20 and wanted to pick up the guitar, well if I had just done it, I would be 15 years in by now and probably living out my fantasy of playing great music around the campfire! I have been mulling around a potential home business in my head, and I feel like the universe has been sending me in the past few weeks, and I just had to tell you that your vlog and post have given me the final push to stop thinking about it and just do it…I got a couple of things confirmed this morning and now I’m on my way. Scary, exciting, and feels good
Thank you, THANK YOU!!! xx
Yay Beth! It’s so true isn’t it….We can sit around and wait for years (and we do) – so often it’s just having the courage to take the first step and then start putting one foot in front of the other. Slow steps are better than none at all.
I’m looking forward to hearing more
Go, Kirri!!! Hip hop classes are the way to go!

Thank you for your inspiration.
I’m going to celebrate life with my half marathon. I can’t whisper “What if…” anymore
